Taxes
Promise Made: Lower taxes and control spending (control spending so surpluses can be returned to taxpayers).
Promise Kept: Successfully fought tax referendum, fought to end the death tax, and defeated numerous tax increases. Supported major spending reforms and closed a $6 billion deficit without raising taxes or balancing the budget on Virginia taxpayers.

Life
Promise Made: Sanctity of Human Life (protect pre-born children, the sick, the elderly, the handicapped, and those who can’t care for themselves).
Promise Kept: Successfully co-patroned the elimination of partial birth abortion. Successfully co-patroned a requirement for parental consent for minor’s seeking an abortion, and bills enhancing adoption. Crafted a bill requiring public health workers
to inform parents when their kids are seriously ill, pregnant, or suicidal.

Education
Promise Made: Advance educational excellence (standard, accountability, proper funding, and tuition tax credits).
Promise Kept: Promoted values awareness in
education, defeated efforts to weaken SOLs, increased public education funding to record levels, and fought for educational choice for all citizens.

Transportation
Promise Made: Realistic transportation solutions (safe, adequate roads, reliable mass transit, our share of State dollars to improve commute.)
Promise Kept: Co-patroned bill that restored $100 million to transportation projects (Passed House, not Senate). Crafted and voted for major reforms to VDOT
road planning, truck safety enforcement, and highway safety measures. Reopened DMVs the Governor closed.

Safety
Promise Made: Safety for our families (violent offenders off the streets for good).
Promise Kept: Toughened laws against violent sexual predators, child pornographers, and terrorists. Closed loopholes that let illegal aliens get ID cards or drivers licenses.

Second Amendment
Promise Made: Defend the Second Amendment.
Promise Kept: Fought every effort to weaken the rights of lawful gun owners and passed bills that clearly defined firearms and antique weapons to facilitate lawful ownership.

Rational growth
Promise Made: Rational growth (local control in quality of life matters that affect our communities).
Promise Kept: Supported legislation protecting local control in growth decisions, and smart land use policies.
